Scentwork training is suitable for any dog of any age or ability. It’s the perfect remedy for confidence building and is a brilliant way to build the bond between dog and owner. We also believe it’s the most mentally tiring activity your dog can do.
Scentwork Workshops
By joining a workshop with Pet Necessities you will learn how to teach your dog to identify the odour of Kong, how to start searching for the odour and to indicate to their handler they’ve found it. Workshops are booked on ability basis, with some complete beginner sessions and some for the more experienced partnerships who are ready for harder challenges.
Guaranteed fun. You’ll leave the workshop with a piece of Kong for you to continue your scentwork games at home. We’re then confident you’ll want to return for another workshop and to progress your training further.
The beginner sessions are one and a half hours long, moving to two hour-long once you’ve progressed on from that level. The dogs won’t be working for the whole duration of the workshop as with some exercises you’ll take it in turns to practise. There will be a short breaks for the dogs to stretch their legs.

Private Scentwork Sessions
You will learn how to teach your dog to identify the odour of Kong, how to start searching for the odour and to indicate to their handler they’ve found it. A piece of Kong will be provided at the start of your scentwork training journey with us.
It may be that your dog can’t handle one of our socially-distanced group sessions, or you’d prefer to have the individual attention and guidance of one of our instructors. Can be booked with friends and the cost split between you.
Thirty minute sessions may also be possible, depending on the ability of your dog.
