Training Classes & Courses

Train with us and have a happy and well-behaved dog.

Puppy Training Course

If taught correctly, your puppy will learn very quickly to respond to your cues through love, affection and rewards. Puppy training will help build a lasting bond between dog and owner, a bond built through trust and not intimidation. Our main goal is to create a happy and confident dog, but one that is also responsive to our requests.

We have many years’ experience of training puppies and we run our classes on a regular basis.

Training dogs of any age is possible, with patience, consistency and kindness.

Topics Covered

Topics covered in our puppy training classes include how to have a dog that will relax on command, sit, lay-down, leave items on request, walk nicely on a loose lead, come back when called, not jump up, and have general good manners. There will always be an opportunity to ask any puppy-related questions on areas you are struggling with e.g. play biting. We also give lots of guidance on socialisation and how to avoid behaviour problems developing and handout sheets are emailed on the main cues covered.

We allow a maximum of 6 dogs per class. For dogs under six months of age.

Six week course fee: £100

Adult Dog Training Course

A well-trained dog is a joy to live with. Whatever age you acquire a dog, there can be training issues that you may need help with. Adult dogs, if untrained, can have a number of annoying habits such as jumping up at people, stealing food, not coming back when called, chasing joggers or cyclists and pulling on the lead.

Training dogs of any age is possible, with patience, consistency and kindness.  This course is suitable of adolescent or mature dogs.

Life Skills Courses

We run progression courses, for those who want to build on the foundations our beginner courses offer.  We believe a 6-week course is a really good starting point, but it’s so beneficial to progress your training to proof your dog’s responsiveness in a variety of challenging scenarios.  Some people like to do a couple of courses with us, whereas some people attend for years and it becomes part of their social calendar whilst dedicating an hour a week to their dog.

We train outdoors and in a ‘real life’ fashion, so exercises geared up to real-life environments, not whether your dog can walk around a village hall in the “heel” position.

No two weeks are the same; we believe in making the sessions fun and engaging for all involved, and that’s how we’ve progressed to around seventy people wanting to spend an hour with us each week.

We allow a maximum of 6 dogs per class.  6 week course.  We train in six week blocks, you can attend one, or several.

Suitable for dogs of any age.

For those who have completed a beginner level course with us, or a similar training establishment.

Topics Covered

Topics on this course will be tailored to the class’ requirements, and special attention will be given to exercises that will give your dog the vital life skills they need to navigate their life with as much confidence and emotional resilience as possible.  We don’t believe in “obedience”, we believe in having a confident dog and a strong training bond, taught through kindness and trust.

We will teach exercises such as:

  • Proofing your dog’s recall
  • Loose lead walking with real-life challenges
  • Proofing your dog’s positions (e.g., “sit”, “down”, “stand”), focussing on duration, distance and distraction
  • An emergency stop when the dog is running towards you and away from you
  • Walking in the “heel” position with no lead, including with distractions present
  • Send to a bed or mat and to wait there until released
  • Self-control exercises
  • Trick training
  • Co-operative husbandry tasks
  • Handling exercises
  • Some courses will also incorporate scentwork, if you have attended one of our scentwork workshops
